Probably almost everyone has heard the terms crushed sleeping devils. Or maybe your friend told you about his experience could not get out of bed in the morning. And he adds such as seeing spirits in it which was top of her. "There's something wrong. I crushed the devil!" So always. What nonsense. But, is that correct? Is there really a spirit to rest on us when we fall asleep? Hmm. Actually, a lot of articles to review this issue. The term is "Sleep Paralysis"
What Actually Sleep Paralysis?
Sleep Paralysis circumstances resulting in your body is very difficult to be moved. Other possible signs such as chest tightness, shortness of breath (difficulty breathing), and it was like being strangled.
Own definition of sleep paralysis (by Stanford) is the period when there is a conscious inability to perform movements either during sleep or when awake. Simply put you can not move for a while when waking from sleep. This is actually a normal thing. And has nothing to do with spirits here. It's just a myth!
Why did it happen so?
This could be explained medically. In medicine there is the term REM (Rapid Eye Movement). REM is the stage where someone is experiencing the deepest sleep. During this phase, the body is interconnected with the brain, causing paralysis of the body. Well, a new sleep paralysis occurs when our minds out of the REM phase while the body is still not connected to the brain.
According to Drs. Max Hirshkowitz, experts from the Sleep Disorders Center, said that sleep paralysis often occurs when the brain undergoes a transition between the dream with the conscious state. For as a dream in the REM phase, deadly brain function throughout the body motion and can not move. But sometimes the brain is able to complete the dream and temporarily paralyzed by the perfect conditions. So that sleep paralysis does not occur.
Anyone can have sleep paralysis either male or female. According to the 1992 Gallup survey, most adults who experience sleep paralysis of this, especially the teenagers.
Had nothing to do with spirits ?
Absolutely nothing. And most people (almost all) who had experienced sleep paralysis hallucinations. They look as if there is such a figure who is above them. Figure with a hideous condition and sitting on them. It was just a hallucination. Actually it did not exist. The brain sends the images that we fear when we can not move our bodies. And that's almost what we call normal. That's just the brain's response only.
How to avoid sleep paralysis?
Sleep Paralysis can occur frequently. And this disorder is like terror that haunts every morning if there is too often. But this is not too dangerous. Most likely sleep paralysis occurs due to stress or too tired. So get used to adequate rest and regular. Exercise is also necessary. Keep a regular basis. And do not excessive exercise before bed.
And there are some other things that might be useful such as:
-Eat a balanced diet
-Drink lots of fluids
-Do not leave hungry before bedtime
-As much as possible avoid drinking too much coffee before bed
-Adequate sleep (6-8 hours each night) and regular
-Try changing sleep positions.
